View of Clonroad Castle, Clonroad More, Ennis, Co. Clare, named here as Clonrond. The castle, which is no longer extant, is viewed from north to south, across the River Fergus. It is depicted as a tower house with an attached six-bay mansion and another building, surrounded by a bawn and curtain wall. The entrance is defended by a machicolation. The rooftop feature of the tower may be a fumarole. This group of buildings is situated on a bend in the river, with two multi-arched bridges leading to it. There is a building on the near shore, at the entrance to the eastern bridge, and the gable end of another is just visible in the foreground to the right. The image is surrounded by an oval frame, above which the title is presented in a cartouche in the form of a banner.
