| THIS pleasant little Watering-place, is situated close to the southern shore of Belfast and Carrickfergus Bay, at about four miles’ distance from Belfast. It is the favourite resort of the inhabitants of the town, as a summer residence; and from its short distance, is well suited as such, to all classes. Immediately adjoining it, is the seat of the LORD BISHOP of Down and Connor; farther along the shore is Ballymenoch House, the seat of THOMAS GREGG, ESQ[.]; and Cultra, the seat of WILLIAM CAIRNS, ESQ., all beautiful places, and well worth a visit. Passing Cultra, the visitor comes to ROCKPORT, a romantic spot, close to the shore, the grounds of which are laid out in a manner well-deserving of notice; – Pic-nic parties, often frequent Rockport, as its proprietor kindly leaves it open to the visits of respectable strangers, who wish to enjoy the beauties of the place, the walks and gardens of which are laid out in a novel and tasteful manner. A little farther, is Crawford’s Burn, the seat of W. SHARMAN CRAWFORD, Esq., one of the best landlords in the Kingdom; – indeed a visit to his property, will at once show that it is well founded, and proves the value of a resident Gentry.
