[Cloyne Round Tower]

View of the round tower in Cloyne, standing on a rocky outcrop. It is shown against an empty background. <br>As depicted here, the tower appears to be in a better state of preservation than in the illustration in Thomas Crofton Croker, <em>Researches in the South of Ireland </em> (London: John Murray, 1824). The design of the crenellations in both cases is the same, but has since been altered.

The annexed drawing of the Tower at Cloyne, on the East-side of Cork Harbour. Will give a general idea of the nature of these buildings, as they vary very little. It stands upon a rocky foundation, in the middle of a Town. Its height is Ninety two feet, and the circumference at the Base, Thirty three feet. [p. 6]
