Published in 2 volumes. Vol. 1, comprising twenty chapters, describes travel in Ireland and relates many sporting anecdotes, with thirteen illustrations. It includes a dedication to General Sir John Guise and a preface three pages in length. Vol. 2 continues the narrative of travel in Ireland for eleven chapters; the remaining nine relate to Scotland. It contains one illustration of an Irish scene (Connemara-Ballinahinch, frontispiece) and six set in Scotland. The author, who presents himself as ‘no Catholic’ but a moderate member of the Church of England, comments throughout on religion, political issues and living conditions. |
