| Biographical Notes | English writer and translator. Daughter of the president of Queen's College. Member from the 1790s of the 'Enfield' literary circle. She translated mainly from German, namely Kotzebue, and wrote four novels, generally well received. Besides translating an important number of travelogues, she published two 'narratives', accounts of her lengthy travels, in France (1802-1805) and in Ireland (1815-1816). |
